Norwegian investment fund will put 8 million EUR in construction of housing area on the site on former barracks, already useless, in Dupnica town, 80 km from Sofia. With the intentions of building new housing estate area expels the idea of construction big business zone ‘Dupnica - Rila - Kocherinovo'. New tendencies in the vacation property market in Bulgaria were to be expected, agents said during the Southeast European economic forum that began on October 31. Vacation property demand in the central parts of the country was going to increase, mediapool.bg reported. The demand would be highest in villages known for spa treatment opportunities. Hisarya, Velingrad and Sandanski could soon become new vacation property hotspots, mediapool.bg reported. The State Agency for Tourism (SAT) was going to aid developments increasing the popularity of Bulgaria's alternative tourism. Bulgaria Real Estate Prices Rose An Average 28.9 In 2007 Nsi 11/03/2008
Bulgaria's National Statistics Institute (NSI) said that real estate prices in Bulgaria had, on average, risen by 28.9 per cent in 2007, compared to the year before. Price increases in 2007 ranged between 44.3 per cent in Turgovishte to 15.6 per cent in Yambol, the NSI said. Ranked by price increase, Sofia was fifth with 35.1 per cent, with Vidin (36.5 per cent), Silistra (38.7 per cent), Pernik (40 per cent), Rousse (140.9 per cent) and Turgovishte ranking ahead of the capital city. Sofia was still the most expensive place to buy real estate, with an average price of 1813.17 leva a sq m, according to the NSI data. Though the Bourgas was a close second with 1762.63 leva a sq m. Business Property Developments Gain Popularity In Bulgaria 11/03/2008
Investor interest in business property in Bulgaria grows. Most investors plan developments like retail centres,  real estate agents said. Bulgaria faces numerous problems related to retail and office space, investor.bg reported. Figures for Bulgaria show that 160 sq m of retail space is available in Bulgaria per 1000 people. In comparison, 1000 people in Poland enjoy 520 sq m of  trade area. Concerning office space, the situation is similar. An employee should have on the average 22 sq m of office space. In Bulgaria, employees have only eight sq m. Bulgaria also lacks storage facilities meeting the international standards. The problem is similar concerning logistics centres. The state failed to impose efficient measures to prevent hotel construction growth in Bulgaria's seaside resorts, resulting in a decrease in prices and demand. As the state proved incapable of restricting new construction in the resorts, the private sector found another way of dealing with the problem, starting to explore tourism possibilities in areas away from the large resorts, Capital newspaper said. Hotel owners said that the big resorts like Sunny Beach and Golden Sands no longer have development potential. Although four and five-star hotels are half-empty, investors keep on constructing new ones.
