Dominique Perrault To Design The New City Of Sofia

The world famous French architect Dominique Perrault won the competition for new governmental complex, which will be built in Sofia, informs "Trud" newspaper.Officially the results will be announce by the international jury today. Chair of the jury is prof. Helle Jul from Denmark, and the members are architects from Japan, France and USA.The projects which took part in the final round will be exhibited in the halls of the National gallery for foreign art. The project of Dominique Perrot was in the typical for him vanguard style. The governmental complex will be built on an area of 700 decares on the place of the current military barns in Sofia.The Frenchman wins over world luminaries like Zaha Hadid and Norman Foster. Other participants in the competition were the "G-3" group of architect Georgi Stoilov, the Italian Massimiliano Fuksas and the consortium "ADAIS - PROJECT".The idea of the prime minister Sergei Stanishev and his brother - architect Georgii Stanishev - is ministries and state agencies to be placed in the new "Sofia city", out of the heavily loaded now center of Sofia. According to the plans for construction on the terrain there skyscrapers could be built.The international architecture competition was announced by the Stanishev government in the beginning of August 2008. Then it was thought that the whole investment in the future center will probably reach 2 billion euro.The army has engaged itself to leave the terrain by 2011.
