Bulgaria Enemona Invests 50 M Eur In Biomass Plant

Bulgarian energy and construction company Enemona plans to invest 100 million BGN (50 million EUR) in the constructions of a biomass-fuelled combined heat and power plant, Reuters reported.

The first of its kind plant in Bulgaria, will have power capacity of 15 megawatts and 45 megawatts of heating.

It is foreseen to be situated at the Danube River town of Nikopol (North Bulgaria) and to start to operate by the end of 2010

The organic biomass scrap, which has so far been wasted, will from now on bring benefits in the spheres of employment, energy and comfort, the company's executive director Dichko Prokopiev said.

Reuters also informed that Enemona plans to build two more such plants in Northern Bulgaria by 2015.

Bulgaria aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 11% of total annual power consumption by 2010 and 16% by 2020, in relation with EU plans.
