Bulgarian government plans only 2 additional industrial zones - in Bourgas and Varna

The Bulgarian government will build only two additional industrial zones, the one in Bourgas and the one in Varna, announced the Bulgarian minister of the economy, energetics and the tourism - Traicho Traikov.

He added that there is a possibility to form and industrial zone near Sofia, but did not specify if it will be built with government or private funds. The actual building will be done by the created in the beginning of the year government "National Company industrial zones" JSC.

The deputy minister Evgeni Angelov explained that it will not be possible to fulfill the program of the previous government for building multiple industrial zones per year, in the next few years. For this reason the capital of "Industrial Zones" JSC will be decreased from 100 million levs to 30 million levs, the 70 million levs will be taken back in the government budget.

At present the company owns the free zones in Vidin, Rousse and Svilengrad, the construction of the industrial zone near Varna was started during the summer of this year, the name of the new industrial zone is Varna - West.

Evgeni Angelov added that in case of interest from investors there is a possibility to construct industrial zones in Bulgaria with private funds. There is already interest from Chinese companies for this.
