Almost 14% of the Bulgarian economy is tourism

The tourist industry now gives 13.6% of the Bulgarian gross domestic product. This advises the Deputy Minister of tourism Branimir Botev.

According to him, this is the only sector in which our country is well above average standards globally.

In his words, this year's receipts from tourism are over 3 billion euro, as Bulgaria is visited by the record of 7 million foreign tourists.

The Deputy Minister reminded that our country is unique because it combines a sea, mountains, huge wealth of mineral springs, history and archeology.

One of the directions for development is medical tourism. Bulgaria as a member of the EU should take advantage of the so-called cross-border healthcare, which allows health funds, pension and health insurance funds of other EU countries to send their customers here.
