The ski resort and town of Smolyan is located on the south of Bulgaria in the Rodopi Mountain. It is situated in the valley of Cherna and Byala Rivers near the ski resorts Pamporovo and Chepelare. It is the administrative center of Smolyan Province. The town is very well developed with good infrastructure. There is a bus stop with regular transportation, food shops, stores, postal office, medical care also there are many restaurants, bars, a theater, planetarium, a museum and many other entertainment centres. There is also the largest church in southern Bulgaria - The Cathedral of Saint Vissarion. The area is also famous with the magnificent pine forests, lakes and valleys.
