Foreigners will buy land in Bulgaria, if they lived here for 3 years

Foreigners who want to buy land in Bulgaria will be able to do so only if they have resided in the country for at least three years.

This provides legislative amendments prepared by the government, which is expected to be voted on within a month, reported bTV.

From January 1st 2014 the Bulgarian land market is open and accessible for Europeans.

The deputies from BSP are convinced that restrictive measures should be and are already preparing emergency legislative changes. It introduces the so-called principle of settlement.

"A citizen of the EU, who wants to buy a land, must have lived in Bulgaria for at least 3 years. The reason for this step is that we want to be sure that those who buy land will be occupied with her treatment," explains Svetla Bachvarova, chairman of the parliamentary committee on agriculture.

The restrictions will only apply to citizens of EU countries who decide to buy land as individuals.

Even before dropping the ban, it did not apply, when there wasn't registered a company. In this way, every foreigner until 2014 could buy land in Bulgaria.
