The house is stone-built and very solid. It has mains electricity, water and telephone, is fully centrally heated and benefits from a solar panel on the roof as well as a 24 hour wood burner standing alone in the lounge. The sofa in the lounge is also a double bed and the one in the dining area is a single bed. The south facing frontage and balconies to the bedrooms, as well as the diner/lounge has superb, unadulterated views of the Rila mountains (under 10 kilometres away), being on the edge of the village. There is a well in the garden and several different types of fruit trees and bushes, as well as the metal frame for a green house and a traditional outside privy. The local council is proposing to tarmac the road up to the house in the near future.

The village has four main general stores as well as several smaller shops, an excellent small hotel and restaurant and several small bars/restaurants, a post office and a regular bus service to and from Samokov (only six kilometers away), as well as the main highway between Samokov - Sofia (and its half hourly bus service each way) just one kilometer away. A twenty minute drive from the village, through Samokov, takes you to the ski resort of Borovets (ski-ing up to nearly 3000 meters - 10,000 feet) along major snow-cleared roads - where there are plans to turn the mountains into an important ski-circus, including lifts from Samokov (just 7/8 kilometres distance) and Beli Iskur (12 kilometers). 15 minutes drive takes you to Lake Iskur which is a massive lake/reservoir for all types of boating take place, as well as fishing and bathing. A new golf course is being constructed 35 kilometers distance at the health spa of Dolna Banya and there is another health spa (also 35 kilometers distance) at Sapareva Banya and a healthy spa-swimming pool 21 kilometers away. The large nature reserve with marked walks can be accessed from Beli Iskur or other villages along the valley up to Malyovitsa (22 kilometers distance). The capital of Bulgaria (Sofia) and Sofia Airport are under one hour drive from the village.

Samokov is the he highest town in Bulgaria, is an extensive shopping centre (including two supermarkets), and many bars and restaurants (particularly in the pedestrianised centre), banks and offices of all kinds. There is a good market open every day except Sunday and a weekly larger market. Shortly there will be a lift installed to the ski-resort of Borovets.
