"saubermacher" Invests 9 Million Euro In Ecoinfrastructure 20/11/2008
"Saubermacher Bulgaria" will invest over 9 million Euro in the construction of modern infrastructure for waste collection in the Sofia residential districts "Mladost", "Lyulin", "Ovcha Kupel", "Vitosha" and "Triadica", manager Stanimir Dobrev announced.The company won a municipal competition for the cleaning of the five districts and starts work on March 1 next year.The new executor of the waste collection in the five Sofia districts will invest in modern and hygienic waste containers, as well as the construction of islands, on which the containers will be placed. But if the corporative model of working the land were implemented, then agricultural business could attract more foreign investment and boost the country's economy in the wake of the weakened tourism and construction sectors. This was the rough conclusion of a conference entitled Investments in Agricultural Lands 2008 - New Mechanisms for Comassation, organised by Elana financial group and Dnevnik daily on November 12 2008. Albena Says May Halve Bed Capacity For Summer 2009 19/11/2008
Resort operator Albena, which owns the hotels, retail outlets and infrastructure in the Black Sea resort of the same name, may keep half of the rooms locked next summer to avoid operating them at a loss, Albena executive director Krassimir Stanev said.Tourist packages will not get cheaper because of the growing food and materials costs, Stanev projected. The resort would decide whether to close the hotels for the summer in April, he added.When crisis strikes, one of the first things to go are vacations, Stanev said. Airlines, which have been hit hard by rising oil prices, have already begun cutting down the number of flights, which could impact the tourism industry in Bulgaria, he said.Yet it was possible that Bulgaria would end up profiting from the crisis as budget travelers turn to... more

Orchid Developments Sells Zlatni Pyassutsi Hotel For 9.9m Euro 19/11/2008
Orchid Developments, an international property developer focusing on Bulgaria, said on November 17 that it sold Yavor hotel in the Black Sea resort of Golden Sands for 9.9 million euro.The developer had said in September in its interim results that it expected the sale of Yavor Zlatni AD, the subsidiary company taht owns the hotel, to complete in October 2008."The completion process has been advanced and on November 12 the purchaser paid the consideration of approximately 9.87 million euro into two escrow accounts. The company anticipates that the transaction will be completed by the middle of December 2008," Orchid said in a statement on the London Stock Exchange's alternative investment market, where the developer is listed. more
