InvestBulgaria Agency approved a project for the construction of a ski complex in the Pirin Mountain town of Dobrinishte. Dobrinishte Ski received a first-class investor certificate on October 26. Once a company receives such certificate, it is entitled to state aid for the construction of some infrastructure needed for the project, mediapool.bg reported. The skiing area would be located in the area between Bezbog Peak and Dobrinishte. It is also located close to Bansko winter resort. In the coming three years the company would invest nearly 260 million leva in the project, mediapool.bg reported. Banya Golf and SPA Resort Jsc (BGSR), controlled by Bulgaria’s energy tycoon Hristo Kovachki, has recently deposited its full contribution due to the joint enterprise with Karlovo municipality, which will realise Banya golf resort project, Nikolai Petkov, chairman of Karlovo municipal council, said, as quoted by expert.bg. This means that construction of the ambitious enterprise, which would comprise golf courses and vacation villages, can start within a month. A referendum in Sozopol municipality on the construction of Bourgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline was announced invalid on April 6 as turnout was below the necessary minimum of 50 per cent. Slightly more than 30 per cent of the 12 000 residents of the municipality voted, Bulgarian language daily Dnevnik reported. Sozopol municipality is south of Bourgas and includes the towns of Sozopol and Chernomorets, as well as several smaller villages. The population of Chernomorets voted most actively, as almost 50 per cent went to the polls in the early afternoon of April 6. In Sozopol, 37 per cent of the population had voted by 4pm. In June this year the world will witness the first zero emissions building ever, Gamze Celikyilmaz from the Regional Environmental Center (REC), told participants of Building Green CEE conference. To be named the REC zero emissions conference centre, it will exclusively utilise environmentally friendly technologies. Two solar panels on its rooftop will generate 22 300 kWh a year in what will be the largest sun-fed power capacity in Hungary. Its walls will be insulated to ensure minimum energy losses, while its lighting system will be equipped with light sensors that will regulate artificial light according to natural light available.
