Plans For Underground Parking Lot Construction In Sofia 07/03/2008
Sofia municipality is planning to offer on concession the terrain below National Assembly Square. The terrain would be used for the construction of an underground parking lot, mediapool.bg reported. According to plan the plot would be given to a concessionaire for a 35-year period. A two-level parking lot would be constructed. Its capacity would be 203 vehicles. The potential investor would use own funds for the construction. The timeframe for completion of the construction works should not exceed two years. Preliminary financial analysis shows the concessionaire would have to invest at least six million leva in the project. Analysts said that through parking fees, the investor would be able to return the initial investment in three years. A number of city councilors... more

The interest in the purchase of three-bedroom apartments in Bulgaria was decreasing, property market analysis for the past several months showed. Two main reasons led to the trend, 24 Chassa newspaper reported. Prices of such apartments remained high and at the same time market supply has not increased. Land and residential space in Velingrad, in south-western Bulgaria, almost doubled their values for a year, prompted by growing interest from developers, Stroitelstvo Gradut (Construction and the City) weekly reported. The turn of 2008 saw a surge of investor interest to spa tourism in Velingrad area. There was a significant interest in buying rural and forestry land with the purpose to invest in apartment complexes and hotels, the weekly said. The Directorate for National Construction Supervision (DNCS) checked 9 919 building sites in 2007, examining the legitimacy of ongoing works, the availability of building permits as well as construction and habitation certificates, according to the DNCS’s annual report, cited by investor.bg. The Directorate issued a total of 2 472 acts, certifying contraventions of the Spatial Development Act. Subsequent legal proceedings have already been launched, the report said. The total number of complaints and alerts, submitted to DNCS last year, totalled 75 052, 18 083 of which were submitted with the central department and 56 969 with the regional arms. The report says that 114 administrative legal proceedings against 76 chief architects and other municipal authorities have started - in... more
